Our mission

Our mission is to help as many people stop smoking as possible. Our goal is make Smoke Free the most effective and the nicest-to-use stop smoking tool on the planet.

For each smoker, our goal is to deliver the stop smoking technique they prefer, in the format that suits them best, precisely when they need it. A very ambitious goal, no doubt. But one that technology makes possible.

To get from here to there we need to engage in a process of constant improvement. We are on a mission to keep learning what helps people quit and to keep sharing that knowledge with people who smoke.

We want to help people develop self-control skills in other areas of life too. Most of us are addicted to something, even if that’s just our mobile phone. What’s needed are better tools to help people change and our mission is to build them.

Our Philosophy

Put user needs first. Take time to learn what those needs are. Improve continually. Treat quitting as a process. Find ways to boost motivation and increase self-confidence. Keep people going until they succeed.

Only recommend things we genuinely believe will help users succeed.

Be a for-profit business but don’t be solely profit-driven. Be driven by the desire to build a company of lasting value.

Take a long-term, win-win approach to users, staff, suppliers and the world. Believe that the best solutions are mutually beneficial and that such solutions can almost always be found.

Scientific Advisors

Prof Robert West

University College London (UCL)

Robert has an exceptionally deep understanding of smoking cessation and behaviour change. His work has been used by governments to shape policies and is at the centre of how stop smoking support is delivered in the UK, a world-leading country in tobacco control.

Prof Jamie Brown

University College London (UCL)

Digital behaviour change is a growing area of interest for scientists, but few know the field better than Jamie. He is Professor of Behavioural Science at UCL, leads a major tobacco and alcohol research group and co-wrote the “Theory of Addiction” with Robert West.

Prof Felix Naughton

University of East Anglia

Felix’s research focusses on stop smoking apps. He’s studied them in-depth and built one that helps people quit in a really nice way (‘Quit Sense’ sends tailored support and advice when you get to locations you used to smoke).

Dr. Olga Perski

University College London (UCL)

Olga’s research encompasses two really interesting areas for us: app engagement and just-in-time interventions. Creating a more engaging app is critical because all the behavioural science in the world won’t do much if the app isn’t used.
GREAT APP!
I love the craving feature. It’s worth the pro price just for the motivation. Also the additional graphs help you see when you most crave. I’ll keep going on about the craving feature a bit more lol.

Quit for Good

Our Quit for Good programme helps people in low income countries stop smoking.

Buy or donate to the app and we’ll give these quitters the Pro features on your behalf. We’ll also provide technical support and help them learn how to get the most from the app.

Together we can help thousands of people quit smoking for good.

Best quit smoking app I have found.
I highly recommend getting the paid version if you are serious about your quitting experience. Thanks for a great app, you are helping me become the best non smoking version of myself.
